There was a lot of noise about the
first American LNG delivery to Europe but the tanker made just a short stop to
check the price and went on to some other destination,
said deputy head of
Gazprom Alexander Medvedev. Mr Medvedev does not believe LNG was unloaded in
Sines, Portugal.
Remarkably,
on May 2, 2016, Portuguese operator REN published
a press release "Sines
terminal is the first in Europe to receive LNG from the United
States of America" describing the arrival and unloading of LNG
tanker Creole Spirit.
According to Sistema de
Informação de Mercados de Energia, the tanker was unloaded on April
26-27. Sines Port Authority
reported that Creole Spirit came from and left for Sabine Pass.
This is information from free public services.
Apparently, Mr Medvedev
was confused by the
second trip of Creole Spirit from Sabine Pass in early May.
